Reporte de la Clínica Dental/Clases de Corte de Eirene Octubre 2008

Monday, December 8th, 2008

Mothly Report from Eirene Dental Clinic/Sewing Classes October 2008

Monday, December 8th, 2008

The dental appointments for this month were more consistent, with more patients and more income.

One special case seen this past month was a girl from Camichines who is nine years old.  She came to us with severe dental problems.  She had an infection in her incisors and all of her molars had cavities.  Her treatment has been time consuming, but little by little we are seeing results and have been able to take care of her dental problems and ease her pain.  We have almost finished with her treatments, and once finished, he mouth will be in the condition that it should be for her to eat, play and enjoy her life as a normal girl of nine should.

In regards to the orthodontics, we have not seen any new patients.  We are continuing the treatment of those who already have begun with their corrective devices.

With the sewing classes, the students left very content this month.  They learned to make an overcoat and a strapless dress for a special occasion.

  • Held the third training session for teachers.
  • Held the first parental meeting where the school for parents was presented which will be held in three consecutive Fridays during the month of November.
  • In our special classes, other than those we began at the beginning of the year in art and computers, we are now offering the students music classes and physical education to the students in the primary school.  We are only missing the English class.
  • Special classes in handwriting are being given to the primary teacher to help her with her classes and students.
  • Began our practices for the drama and music presentations for the special Christmas program.
  • Our computer teacher has graciously donated a computer for use in our classes.
  • One student from the five year old class had to be taken off the roll because of lack of attendance and a new student has been added in first grade.  We also moved one student from the four year old class to the five year old class because he was too advanced.  We now currently serve the following numbers of students in each grade level:

Three year olds:   11   Four year olds:    7     Kindergarten:    4

First Grade:   5         Third Grade:   3       Total:       30

Reporte del Mes de Septiembre 2008 - Clínica Dental

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

Dental Clinic Monthly Report - September 2008

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

This month there was a slight increase in the amount of patients (26) that were seen at the dental clinic.  This is probably because many people are still finding out about the clinic’s existence.  We were able to place a lighted sign outside of the clinic, which has seemed to be helpful, and we also had a dental hygienist come from Oregon this summer who saw many patients and really encouraged them to see the dentist.

In the orthodontics classes, this quarter finished well.  It was somewhat difficult because of the detailed work needing to be done and the cost of the practice materials, but I am happy to report that the hard work paid off and I was able to finish the quarter with an average of 100.  I now have some patients that have begun to come to me for orthodontics, and I am only charging them for their material used in their treatments.

Sewing Classes Monthly Report-September 2008

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

This month there were few students, 6, because the place where we normally hold our classes was under construction.  The students learned to make an embroidered handbag and an apron.  The students that are coming are very happy and content with the classes and with what they are making.

Unfortunately, all of our sewing machines broke down, most likely because of the dampness incurred over the summer.  We are hoping to repair them as soon as possible so that we can continue to keep up the enthusiasm in the students.
