Este mes la clínica dental tuvo muy poca gente….

En primer lugar fue un mes un poco difícil y debido a la contingencia por la epidemia de influencia, no estuvimos trabajando la primera quincena de mayo por recomendación de la secretaria de salud y asi poder evitar el contagio.

Por otra parte, la misma gente  tiene un poco de miedo y suspendieron sus citas, la consulta dental bajo un gran porcentaje. La segunda quincena subió un poquito la afluencia de personas a consulta.

ORTODONCIA

También se presento como un mes un poco complicado, por ser fin de periodo, estoy en exámenes, estos terminan la siguiente semana pero hasta hoy voy bien.

¡Estoy feliz de reportar que el resultado de mi primer examen de este periodo fue 100!

COSTURA

Las clases se reanudaron en la segunda quincena de mayo, igual que la clínica.

Mis alumnas siguen constantes y creativas. Aprendieron a hacer  algunas transformaciones para una blusa y 4 tipos de mangas.

This past month there were very few patients…

Firstly, because, up until May 18th, schools were closed and the clinic was closed as well due to precautions against the “swine flu.”

On the other hand, because many people could not work, they did not have funds for the appointments and also continued to have fear of going out in public places.  We did start to see an increase in patients some in the second half of the month, but it will probably take a while for the clinic to get back to the normal amount of patients seen. 

Orthodontics

Classes were also suspended one week and we are in the process of taking final exams for the semester as well.  

I am happy to report that the results of my first exam for the semester were 100%!

Sewing Classes

Sewing classes were also suspended until after May 18th as the government asked that there be no public gatherings of this type.  

The students all came back and have been faithful in their attendance and growing in the creativity.  They learned how to make different blouses with four types of sleeves

• Se hizo reclutamiento y selección de maestras para el próximo ciclo.  Con la ayuda de Dios tenemos ya a dos maestras seleccionadas que estarán en entrenamiento: una maestra estará a cargo de primero de kínder y la otra maestra  tendrá segundo y tercero de kínder.  Estarán bajo contrato a partir del 24 de agosto.

• Debido a la suspensión de clases reanudamos éstas el 18 de mayo.

• Junto con Flora se estuvo trabajando sobre el Nuevo Reglamento para el próximo ciclo escolar donde no sólo se contempla las obligaciones del personal sino también sus derechos como prestaciones.

• Tuvimos la décima sesión del curso “Formación para Docentes”   el viernes 29 de mayo cuyo tema fue “Los Valores”. 

• Se hizo el programa de fin de cursos donde lo relevante es que terminaremos el ciclo escolar el 14 de julio e iniciaremos nuevo ciclo escolar el 31 de agosto.  Aunque el  personal empezaremos a laborar desde el 24 de agosto para tener una semana de preparación. Asimismo se hará una especie de fiesta sólo para niños el 10 de julio y el 13 de julio se llevarán a cabo las Clases Públicas para cerrar el ciclo.  El día 14 haremos entrega de calificaciones finales a padres de familia y se les festejará a las maestras su día por no haberse hecho en el día acostumbrado debido a la contingencia.

• Hemos tenido prácticas sanitarias debido a la epidemia de la influenza: haciendo limpieza a salones y material didáctico con desinfectante, aplicando gel antibacterial en las manos de alumnos y personal y solicitando el uso de cubrebocas a todos.

• Se atendió a un grupo de estudiantes de la U de G de 5° de preparatoria que presentaron un proyecto de servicio social para los niños del Centro de Capacitación.  Estarán aproximadamente 4 días con nosostros en el mes de junio para trabajar con los niños a través de dinámicas, juegos, manualidades, etc con el objeto de dar atención y proporcionarles despensas y regalos.

• Se ha estado investigando en escuelas sobre horarios, costos, sistemas de estudio para que el personal del Centro de Capacitación  siga estudiando.

• Se entregó un pequeño presente y detallito a las mamás de nuestros alumnos con el fin de que no pasara desapercibido el día de las madres por causa de la contingencia.

• Hasta mayo, nuestro estado actual de número de alumnos es el siguiente:

• Recruitment and selection of two new teachers for the next school year was started and completed.  We were able to hire two new teachers for the three year old class, and for the students in the 4-5 year old class.  They will begin on August 24^th. 

• Because of the swine flu, classes were not resumed in May until the 18th.

• Working with Flora, we developed a more complete Rules and Regulations for the next school year, not only taking into account the obligations of the teachers, but their rights and needs as well.  

• We completed the tenth session of our training course for teachers on May 29th.  The theme was “Values.” 

• We completed our schedule for the end of the school year.  We will be finishing on July 14^th, and starting the following school year on August 31^st.  We will be having a special celebration for the children on July 10^th and on July 13^th we will be holding our presentations for parents to finish out the school year.  On July 14^th, we will be giving out the final grades to parents and we will be celebrating Teacher’s Day, which we were not able to celebrate due to the swine flu. 

• In order to respond to extra health measures and precautions with the swine flu, we have been doing special cleanings for the classrooms, and having the students wear medical masks and using antibacterial gel.  

• We have a group of students, who are seniors in high school, that are doing their social service with us for four days in June.  They will be working with the children in games, crafts and special activities. 

• We are looking into different schools, programs, and schedules to see about the possibility of helping our teachers complete their certifications and have continuing education.  

• We passed out a small gift to the mothers to remember Mother’s Day, as we did not want them to be forgotten with the children not having school due to the swine flu.  

• The total amount of students we currently have in the Centro de Capacitación is:

• Tuvimos la octava sesión del curso “Formación para Docentes”   el viernes 3 de abril cuyo tema fue “La Disciplina”.  Además tuvimos la novena sesión del mismo curso con el tema “Evaluación y Seguimiento” el viernes 24 de abril.  

• Se elaboró un plan de  entrenamiento laboral para la futura maestra  donde estará a prueba para confirmar posteriormente si se  integra en el próximo ciclo escolar.

• En este mes de abril prácticamente sólo tuvimos una semana de clases por tres razones:

    • Se llevó a cabo el evento de canto y drama de alumnos para padres de familia y se entregaron calificaciones desde la primer semana del mes. Esto se hizo el 1 y 2 de abril, y el viernes 3 tuvimos curso los maestros.

•

    • Estuvimos de vacaciones del  6 al 17 de abril por semana santa y de pascua. Ingresamos el 20 de abril.

•  
  •  
    • Debido a una contingencia sanitaria decretada por gobierno federal se suspendieron clases el día 28 de abril en todo el país.

• Hasta abril, nuestro estado actual de número de alumnos es el siguiente:

• We held the eighth teacher training course on April 3^rd talk about the theme of “Discipline.”  We also held the ninth teacher training course on April 24^th talking about “Evaluation and Follow-up
• Worked out a plan of training for a potential teacher in the school.  She will be helping for three weeks in various classrooms to see whether or not we should hire her for next year. 
• During April we basically only had one week of school for the following three reasons:

    • We presented the children’s Easter program to their parents and families and handed out their grades on April 1 and 2.  
    • The children had vacation time for Easter break from April 5-20.  
    • The government also suspended classes for all of Mexico beginning on April 28^th due to a flu outbreak.  

• Up through March, we have the following number of students:

PACIENTES.  20 EN MARZO

                        10 EN ABRIL.

Como puedes darte cuenta la disminución en la cantidad de pacientes ha sido significativa, sobre todo por el mes de abril. Esto se debe a varias circunstancias durante este periodo. En el mes de marzo estuve incapacitada por algunos días debido a problemas de salud.

Durante el mes de abril se presentaron vacaciones de semana Santa y Pascua época en la que generalmente la gente hace muy poco en materia de salud, su enfoque principal son las vacaciones y aunque la mayoría no cuenta con recursos para salir de la ciudad  o pasear tienen un enfoque muy religioso y prefieren mantenerse en casa para conmemorar estos días. A tal grado que solo dejan sus casas si la gravedad de la enfermedad lo amerita.

Por otra parte se presento en México un problema epidemiológico del que todos tenemos conocimiento, por lo que nos vimos en la necesidad de suspender actividades para evitar la propagación de la enfermedad (Influenza humana).

En general fueron dos meses de poca actividad laboral y poca asistencia a consulta dental sin paciente de trascendencia o casos destacados, todo se enfoco a simples limpiezas y algunas extracciones dentales….

En  lo que se refiere a clases de ortodoncia, actualmente curso el quinto nivel, este periodo termina en mayo, las clases han transcurrido con la normalidad que la situación actual lo permite iniciando mes de mayo comenzamos con los preparativos para exámenes. En cuanto a pacientes solo hay un ingreso nuevo de un niño del centro educativo a quien comencé a tratar en abril y ya estaré informando de sus progresos.

COSTURA

Por los mismos motivos ya mencionados en el reporte del consultorio la asistencia a la clase fue poca pero las alumnas no pierden el entusiasmo y poco a poco siguen aprendiendo cosas nuevas. En estos meses hicieron un pantalón y algunas blusas propias para la temporada de primavera.

Patients: 30 total

As you can see, the number of patients that were seen the last two months dropped off significantly.  There were a couple different reasons for this.  During March, I was sick and unable to come into the clinic for various days.  Then in April, with the two weeks of vacation for Easter, we normally see very few people in the clinic.  Most of them prefer to stay around Santa Ana and be with family and do religious things.  They don’t leave for many things, especially for going to see the dentist and any money they may have they save to spend on other things during this time, and not on their health. 

In Mexico, we also experienced a population-wide health problem, as many of you know, which caused people to not leave their homes except when necessary.  This was done to try to limit the spread of the swine flu. 

In general, the last two months were without much activity and provided no special cases either.  The patients that did come into the clinic came in for cleanings and extractions. 

In regards to orthodontics, we are now in our fifth level of study which finishes in May.  We will then be working to prepare for our exams.  We did have one new patient for orthodontics who attends Centro de Capacitación Eirene.  I will be keeping you informed of his progress in the coming months. 

Sewing Classes

Because of the same reasons mentioned in the dental report, we did not have many clases the last couple of months.  However, the students continue to remain enthusiastic and continue to learn new things.  During March and April, we made some pants and also some blouses for springtime.

• Pospusimos la octava sesión del curso  “Formación para Docentes”   para el viernes 3 de abril.  Tendremos el tema de “La Disciplina”.  Esto fue porque salimos al tour con la visita de Evergreen.  

• Terminamos los ensayos y preparativos para el pequeño evento de semana santa que presentarán los alumnos  el día 1 de abril.

• Tuvimos la visita de EVERGREEN STUDENTS y cumplimos con el programa preestablecido para apoyo a la escuela en las áreas del evento de semana santa y en dinámicas de concentración y aprendizaje con algunos alumnos.

• Se coordinó a cinco padres de familia para que fueran entrevistados el día del evento de semana santa con el propósito de dar testimonio de Eirene.

• Se está coordinando a la Psicóloga Ana María para que atienda al alumno Adolfo en impartirle clases especiales en dos días a la semana durante dos horas.

• Por razones laborales personales la maestra Teresa López ya no podrá apoyarnos en las clases de computación y clases especiales para un alumno de bajo aprendizaje.  Se harán algunos reajustes para que los niños no pierdan esta clase y el alumno de bajo aprendizaje siga recibiendo este apoyo.

• Se integrará una nueva maestra -estará a prueba- al equipo de docentes para darle entrenamiento sistemático y pueda apoyarnos en el próximo ciclo escolar.

• Se llevó a cabo la junta para padres donde tratamos asuntos relevantes de asistencia, puntualidad, uniformes de alumnos y apoyo al Centro de Capacitación.

• Se aplicaron exámenes y evaluaciones a todos los grupos para cerrar el segundo período escolar.

• Hasta marzo, nuestro estado actual de número de alumnos es el siguiente:

• We postponed the eighth session of our training classes for teachers until April 3^rd so that we could join the team from Oregon that came to help and help give them a tour of the downtown section of Guadalajara.

• We finished with our rehearsals for the Easter Program that will be presented on April 1^st.

• We received students and adults from Evergreen PCA and completed our pre-established program with them.  They came and helped with the set for the Easter Program and helped the students in the areas of concentration and helping the special needs students.   

• Five families were approached and asked to give their testimonies of how Eirene has benefited their family.  They will give their testimonies following the program. 

• Our psychologist, Ana Maria, continues to help by giving special classes to Adolfo for two days of the week. 

• Our volunteer teacher, Teresa López had to discontinue her help with computer classes and her help with one special needs child due to work related reasons.  We will be making some adjustments so that we can continue to provide these necessary classes to the children.

• We have a potential teacher for next year that will be visiting classes for three consecutive weeks to see about the possibility of her working for us in the next school year. 

• We held a meeting to discuss with parents some issues that had come up in regards to attendance, punctuality, uniforms, and their help in Centro de Capacitación Eirene.

• We completed exams for the children in the school in order to give grades for their second period of the school year.  

• Up through March, we have the following number of students:
